Commercial ships avoiding Red Sea over attack fears
The International Chamber of Shipping reports that due to the threat of attack, one in five commercial ships are now avoiding the Red Sea.
Following attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen, several businesses, including two of the largest in the world, have halted shipments through the route.
The Houthi group, which has stated its support for Hamas and that it is aiming its attacks at Israeli-bound ships, is carrying out the attacks.
15% of all transport worldwide go through the Red Sea, which is also an important part of the global supply chain.
